Chanae Jackson is a strategist, cultural organizer, and unapologetic truth-teller who mobilizes at the intersection of Black motherhood, political resistance, and Afro-Indigenous wellness. Her journey into activism began after nearly losing her life in childbirth—twice—and experiencing the trauma of having her son Keyon Young snatched from her car at gunpoint by a sheriff's officer in 2018.
Today, she builds the systems she needed to survive: healing spaces, political education pipelines, and campaigns led by and for Black communities.
"We don't live for the 'I.' We live for the 'we.'"
As a Black Mama Activist, Chanae leads with a fierce commitment to the liberation of Black mothers—starting from the womb and stretching across the full arc of life. Her organizing, policy work, and storytelling are rooted in lived experience and sharpened by deep systemic analysis.
"The brutalization of Black bodies begins in the womb."
This isn't just a quote—it's a charge to act. Through The Black Mama Power Collective™, Chanae addresses the harsh realities that Black mothers face: from being 3-4x more likely to die during childbirth to fighting for their children's safety in a system that criminalizes Black youth.
Public mourning rituals and ceremonial spaces that transform grief into community power through Afro-Indigenous traditions of collective remembrance.
Monthly gatherings, resource sharing, and advocacy training for Black mothers navigating healthcare, education, housing, and justice systems.
Community-led initiatives addressing Black maternal health inequities, birth justice, and the intersections of state violence with reproductive freedom.
Chanae's climate and environmental justice work is rooted in the belief that climate solutions must be shaped by the people most harmed by environmental racism and economic injustice. Her approach isn't extractive—it's participatory, trauma-informed, and community-led.
